dc.description.abstract	Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá kryptomenami ako alternatívnymi formami peňazí. Cieľom práce je analyzovať, do akej miery môžu kryptomeny, najmä Bitcoin, nahradiť tradičné fiat meny z pohľadu ich vlastností a základných funkcií. Teoretická časť sa venuje vývoju peňazí, ich formám a definícii ich funkcií. Ďalej je vo všeobecnosti vysvetlená podstata kryptomien a samostatná kapitola je venovaná Bitcoinu. Praktická časť práce porovnáva Bitcoin a americký dolár z hľadiska vybraných vlastností a hodnotí ich schopnosť plniť základné peňažné funkcie. V závere práce je zhodnotený potenciál Bitcoinu ako možnej alternatívy k fiat menám a identifikované sú kľúčové faktory, ktoré ovplyvňujú jeho širšiu adopciu ako každodenného platidla.

Furthermore, the general nature of cryptocurrencies is explained, with a dedicated chapter focusing on Bitcoin. The practical part compares Bitcoin and the US dollar based on selected monetary properties and evaluates their ability to fulfil essential monetary functions. In conclusion, the thesis assesses the potential of Bitcoin as a viable alternative to fiat currencies. It identifies the key factors influencing its broader adoption as a means of everyday payment.
