Abstract: This thesis examines the factors influencing small-scale farmers' adoption of Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart farming technology in Sri Lanka. The study examines how farmers' intentions to use IoT are influenced by perceived risks (such as dependability and privacy issues) and advantages (such as greater productivity and convenience) using the Net Valence Model (NVM). Structured questionnaires were used to gather information from 100 smallholder farmers in three districts. The results imply that although farmers are aware of the advantages of IoT, widespread adoption is hampered by worries about privacy and dependability. In order to enhance IoT adoption and support sustainable agricultural growth and food security in Sri Lanka, the study offers useful suggestions for legislators, technology companies, and agricultural stakeholders.
